Is it ok if i play this sizzlin’ tune on repeat? Thank you!

I can’t think of another piece of music with just bass, drums and voice to create such intensity…

…because sometimes it’s just the blues 🙂

I can give many examples, yet this is one of my favorites:

Wiki says it’s blues-rock, but whatever 🙂

You know you got the blues when…

…you play this song on repeat almost the entire day at work. Strangely, the effect on productivity is positive, even with the repeated mouse clicks on the play button. I’m in the zone, baby!

I love Howlin’ Wolf, I think he’s very standout from most blues artists in the 50s and 60s. This bigger than life character seems to have had a pretty interesting story. You can find some info on Wikipaedia and a few sources online, but I’m really interested in a book about him; i’m going to browse the online book stores for a bit 😉

There’s a great performance (acting) by Eamonn Walker, portraying Howlin’ Wolf (real name Chester Arthur Burnett) in Cadillac Records (2008). Smokestack Lightnin’, another Wolf staple.

Click here for the video (opens in a new window).

There in the back you have Hubert Sumlin portrayed by an actor and playing next to him, Hubert himself, still going strong in 2008!

The roots of breakdance

Well, I always thought it was somewhere in the New York area, but apparently the russian army dancers had something to do with it.

Peace out to all my former breakdancing roommates!! Keep rockin’!
